Kolkata 14th Sep: According recent study it has been noticed that in some low and middle-income countries like us, more than 50% of people do not received proper rehabilitation services which a person badly needed at some point in their lives, following an injury, surgery, disease or illness, or because their functioning has declined with age. Rehabilitation plays a significant role to serve the mankind in various ways include good health, prevention of disease, treatment, palliative care. Medical Rehabilitation Center (MRC), under the supervision of Physical Medicine practitioner Dr Mouli Madhab Ghatak is working in this field since long 21 years with innumerable satisfied patients of different physical condition.

This year while celebrating the 22nd foundation day, in auspicious presence of Swami Suparnananda Maharaj, Secretary, The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, the Founder and Chief Consultant of MRC explained that requirement of proper rehabilitation for those suffering for normalcy after a brain stroke, heart attack, a spinal or neck injury due to accident or even some orthopaedic surgeries like knee & hip joint replacement and diseases like osteo arthritis, osteoporosis and other medical conditions. While addressing the audience Dr Mouli Madhab Ghatak, Founder & Chief Consultant, MRC conveyed a story of an IT professional, who after an accidental neck injury got whole body paralysis and was living a depressed life for ten long years and also applied for euthanasia. That time fortunately MRC authority came to know about him and immediately shifted him in the centre and by 8 months vigorous treatment on multiple mode of medical management with rehab, bed sore surgery and others he started working with the computer. He was in dire need of a service to sustain. That time a Bangalore based company extended hands to offer him service and right now he is holding a Managerial post there. His incident inspires the organisation to realise to realise the need of financial rehab along with physical rehabilitation.

Keeping an eye on this fact this year MRC is tying up a knot with few local corporate houses for financial rehabilitation of yearly 8-10 persons, who are being treated here but due to gross damage even after full rehab has to accommodate a partly disability adjusted life to mark the 22nd Foundation Day of this concern.
