A biopic is being made of Mehtab Hossain, a former footballer who plays two roles, and may be released next year
Kolkata, 27th Sep: A biopic is being made on the football life of former legendary footballer Mehtab Hossain. His official announcement was made at East Bengal Club on Monday.
Director Bappa is bringing Mehtab’s biopic to the screen under the banner of Dhaga Productions. It is said that this film will be released next year. Nothing has been revealed about who will play Mehtab’s role or if Mehtab will be seen in any part in the movie.
The announcement was made at a press conference at the East Bengal Club on Monday.
But the story of joining and leaving the political stage after retiring from football is not there.
He said, “Joining politics is the wrong decision of my life. This film will be made around my football life”, said the former Bengali midfielder.
East Bengal head coach Debbrat Sarkar, who was present at the event, said, “Mehtab’s story of becoming a footballer will inspire new players.
Mehtab showed how a man who wanted to leave the field after being disappointed with failure turned around and reached the pinnacle of success after changing his jersey number.” Mehtab was present at the event.
Contemporary footballers of Mehtab like Dipankar Roy, Shasthi Dule, Arnav Mondal, Amit Das, Alvito de Cunha.
Everyone welcomed the idea of this film. Many stories and novels have been written based on football in Bengal.
A movie has been made about football. Recently a biopic of late Krishanu Dey has been made.
But the Bengali footballer’s biopic on the big screen is probably going to be the first time.
From that point of view, Mehtab will be a milestone in the making of Bangla biopic.
