Kolkata’s one make-up artist create a Human Model replica of “Bhager Maa” which Barisha Club Durga Puja made last year

Kolkta 12 sep 2022: South Kolkata’s theme for the NRC Durga Puja pandal topped the West Bengal government’s ‘best of the top list’ in 2021. In South Kolkata, the Barisha Club Durga Puja pandal had selected a theme titled “Bhager Maa” (Division of Mother) to depict apprehensions about concerns about the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

The theme was also heavily laden with overtones of the refugee crisis and the pain of the post-partition borne by millions of people who left behind their ancestral homes amid violence.

Following that theme a make up artist named Rohini Roy attempt a clay work on human models. She said “NRC and the plight of migrant workers in the epidemic were highlighted in this theme. I was blown away by this theme and this work. Kudos to artists Debayan Pramanik, Pratap Majumdar and Sumit Biswas who created the concept.”

On that shoot the model was Sanjana Paul as Durga, Sayantika Karmakar as Lakshmi, Sampurna Shil as Saraswati, Arnob Bhattacharya as Ganesh and Aritra Halder as Kartik. Photography by Abir Halder Rinku, Light assitant by Sayan Rakshit. Set Designer and styling by Swapan Kumar Dey, Anupam Haldar and Managment by Binita Palchowdhury, Ranjana Roy and Basudev Roy.
